Last week someone on Facebook linked to this post, and this little blog went viral for a whole twenty-four hours: 334 unique visitors in the course of one day. Here ends my quest for internet fame.
Also last week: toddlers are to Angry Birds as grandmas are to Bridge.

| I don't understand this game at all, but it made my grandma happy, which is all that really mattered. |
Alas, after a whirlwind of family and and friends and miscellaneous NJ errands and much regret over our lack of a DC excursion, we went to Newark to hop on a plane yesterday.
I am so very glad to be starting this life in San Francisco, although the bureaucracy and details of it all may be the end of me. You wouldn't believe the hoops we had to jump through to get a Verizon account going again (our California location, NJ billing address, and VA home address on our official ID set off all sorts of fraud alerts). I'm pretty sure that our health insurance is all screwed up. And how is it possible that we had this much stuff in storage in VA--all I remember of spring 2009 is donating, selling, and tossing so much stuff. Yet Tom continues to hold onto his original undergraduate grade reports for "sentimental reasons."
We also left a few things in my parents' house, things we didn't want going to storage for 2+ years--my jewelry box, our wedding china, etc. So we had a bunch of extra luggage for our flight, packed with breakables cushioned by my cousin's clothes that were supposed to go to Goodwill in NJ, but will now go to Goodwill in CA.
As soon as our London shipment arrives, all of our belongings will be in one place for the first time in almost three years, but before that can happen, we have to assemble all the things, crush boxes, toss packing material, figure out what goes where and how and why, stock the kitchen with food, manipulate my way into taking over the larger bedroom closet, get a house line because we have crap cell reception in here, stick a towel rack on the wall in the bathroom, organize everything within an inch of its life, and secretly dispose of about half of Tom's wardrobe that came out of storage. That doesn't even touch on all the things I want to do to actually make this place our home--after spending so much time in a flat where we couldn't even decide what hung on the walls, I'm impatient to make this little condo ours (we plan on living in it for 2 to 3 years, after all).

Oh, and apparently we start work tomorrow? Oy.
So blogging to going to be a little light for a while. A couple times a week? Maybe?
| I swear I'll have some real live blog fodder from this gorgeous place eventually. |
Just wanted to say that your blog has been the best one I've followed over the last year or so and that I wish you every happiness now that you're back in the US.
